After graduating with a BS from Endicott College’s Interior Design program, Mikhaela joined McKay’s furniture in 2005. Combining her previous experience from both architectural firms and the furniture industry, Mikhaela has gained a tremendous breadth of knowledge that helps her to create discerning interiors for our clients.
As a designer it is her primary function to listen to our clients needs and incorporate those ideas into the successful development of the project. However, it is Mikhaela’s penchant to push the limits and inspire ideas that our clients may have never imagined were possible. One such client once remarked, "the space is everything I never knew I wanted". That is one of the most wonderful compliments anyone can offer and underpins Mikhaela’s contributions and talents and why she is such a valuable asset for McKay’s and our clients.
Kim comes to McKay’s with a broad experience base and education. Having completed degree programs at Radford University and the University of Rhode Island, Kim began her professional career working for an interior design firm. Wanting to branch out from the firms “style” and needing to develop own creative expression, Kim joined McKay’s in 1996.
Realizing that no two projects are alike and that each challenge presents its own design solution, Kim boldly throws herself into her work. By listening to the client’s needs and wishes, Kim helps to guide them through the process to create a unique and lasting living space. Kim’s design sensibilities are not married to one style or trend, but rather to the client’s tastes and budgets, which makes Kim an integral part of the McKay Design Team and a trusted creative vision for our customers.
Upon completion of the Interior Design Program at Sheffield School, now referred to as New York Institute of Art and Design, Diane applied her knowledge in a local family owned furniture store from 1997-2001. Upon arriving to McKay’s, she quickly adapted to their customer-oriented doctrine. She was thrilled to have the opportunity to accommodate clients with "On Approval" trials of rugs, accessories, chairs, etc. She finds that customers appreciate the relaxed atmosphere altogether, being allowed to leisurely browse essential pieces that will soon become inspiration for their design plans. Once spaces are carefully measured, some clients receive several placement options/plans.
Diane enjoys implementing newly chosen pieces along with existing cherished pieces that her customers value. She often will ask to see artwork, or antiques that clients failed to realize could take on a new life. Particular attention is spent on the client‘s comfort, now and for the future. Careful, practical application of color and neutrality keep her design plans timeless. "It isn’t work, it’s more of a fun, artistic process."
